If you want to be happy, want fewer things.
"You're a fat f*ck."
That’s what I told myself after catching a glimpse in the mirror this Memorial Day Weekend.
Brutal, I know.
The truth is, I’ve been chasing washboard abs for years.
Used to have 'em too...

I'm still in pretty good shape right now, don't get me wrong.
But lately, it feels like no matter how hard I try, I can't look the way I used to.
So after this weekend, I asked myself:
What could I have ACTUALLY done differently this weekend?
- Skip the Italian hero I had in Central Park...
- or that delicious ice cream cone I had...
- or that slice of pizza I enjoyed with my family?
Sounds f*cking miserable.
That’s when Naval Ravikant’s line hit me:
“Desire is a contract you make with yourself to be miserable until you get what you want.”
I’ve been doing exactly that — choosing misery over a six-pack I probably don’t even need.
Somewhere along the way, I made up a rule:If I don’t look like a Greek statue, I can’t feel good about myself.
And if you ask me, as long as I feel healthy, it's a pretty dumb rule.
Naval’s advice? Want fewer things.
Because when you do, two things happen.
- You’re less miserable.
- You free up energy for the things you actually want.
So... what’s one goal YOU can let go of today to get your peace back?
