The 90-Second Rule
Did you know the Civil War could’ve ended much sooner?
After Gettysburg, Robert E. Lee was on the ropes — one good punch away from being knocked out of the war for good.
But the Union General in charge let the Confederate army escape.
When Lincoln found out, he was furious.
He wrote the General a brutal letter — basically saying,
“How the hell did you let this happen?”
And you know what happened next?
Nothing.
Because Lincoln never sent it.
He cooled off and filed it away in his desk.
Historians later found dozens of these “hot letters” — written in anger… unsent.
Lincoln instinctively understood something neuroscience now proves:
When we get triggered, our body releases a powerful emotional rush…
but if you don’t turn that feeling into action,
the wave naturally passes in about 90 seconds.
Why is this useful?
Because at some point today, you will get triggered.
And when you do, it's important that you act like Lincoln:
Give it 90 seconds — then respond.
