The Edison Rule

In 1914, Thomas Edison watched as his entire factory burned to the ground.

Years of research, inventions, and effort gone in one night.

Most people would’ve fallen apart. But Edison turned to his son and said,

Go get your mother and her friends — they’ll never see a fire like this again.

And when the flames died, he added,

It’s all right. We just got rid of a lot of rubbish.

He didn’t fight what happened. He didn’t play the victim.

He surrendered to reality — and found the positive meaning.

This week, something might burn down in your life.

Plans might change. People will let you down.

And when they do, remember this:

The fire only hurts if you fight it.

Because as Marcus Aurelius once said,

Choose not to be harmed — and you won’t feel harmed.

Don’t feel harmed — and you haven’t been.

So accept your reality. Find the good.

And move TF on.
